Glue Ear

Glue Ear My daughter, now 12, was diagnosed with glue ear at three, after a toddlerhood of delayed speech, lick of comprehension and deafness. Two grommets were inserted in her bad ear, but didn't deliver the promised miracles. The doctors say the eardrum has been perforated and scarred by the grommets. We have tried all kinds of diets and complementary therapies in our attempts to cure this constantly bunged-up ear. She is prone to sinus congestion and often can’t breathe through her mouth properly. I've refused another surgical procedure to stitch up the perforation. She is behind at school and is miserable. What is your advice?

Glandular Fever

Glandular Fever My niece has glandular fever. She can't get out of bed for more than a couple of hours, and her throat is so swollen that she cannot swallow solids. She is in her last year at Cambridge University where she is predicted to get a first. What do you suggest?

Goitre

Goitre I have recently been diagnosed with two multi-nodule goitres in my neck. Scans have shown that they are not cancerous. Please could you explain what causes these, and is there anything I can do to reduce them or prevent them getting bigger?

Genital Herpes

Genital Herpes I was infected with genital herpes by my husband ten years ago. Since we have separated, I have been experiencing monthly outbreaks of herpes lately. What can I do to help cut down on these incidents?

Growing Pains

Growing Pains Both my teenage sons suffer from leg Pain. The 18-year-old is mostly affected in the knee; he has had X-rays over the past four years but has only been given painkillers. The pain he suffers-which is accompanied by clicking in the joints - has affected him playing sports, as well as his daily walking. The l3-year-old suffers mostly with pain in the shin area, particularly when playing sports. Doctors have told us that these are simply growing pains and that my sons should not do any sport except swimming. They were devastated by this. Is there anything I can do?
